Installation
1. Installed mapsource (or waypoint manager) that include in your Garmin GPS pkg.
2. Download the ZIP file from this link
Israel topo 2 meters - Ver 3 Base file 250Mbyte
3. Create directory "israel_topo" under Garmin installed dir.
4. Unzip all the files to israel_topo directory.
If you already installed OLD israel_top 2 meter, just delete the entire directory, and unzip all the files to it.
No need to change the registery.
5. edit file "israel_topo.reg" to mattch your Mapsource path.
Edit only the mark lines

6. Run "israel_topo.reg" to add this change to your windows registery
7. Run mapsource , select israel topo maps.
8. Please note that download the maps from mapsource to the GPS is not working well. Please use the Sendmap20 program.
8. Close Garmin Base Map before downloads maps to the GPS (See bellow)

Sendmap20 and download Custom map to your GPS
Basically Israel topo map include two sets of maps:
- 2 meters resolution maps set that include ONLY the height lines
- Israel road for bicycle that update from time to time with new bike routes. this map is located in the main GPS page.
The base topo map includes these two sets, Israel road map is name as 99999999.img. (its Israel ver 4.02)
After the full download of the base map ZIP file, you do not need to download again this large file, just download from the main page the last version of Israel map , rename it to 99999999.img and save it to mapsource directory Israel_topo.
The custom type is a file (called 99999998.typ) , and when it download to the GPS , it “paint” all the bicyle tracks with special color, so its very easy to see the track while biking.
Since mapsource software do not support sending this file to the GPS, you need to use special software called sendmap20 (ver 4) that include in the base map link.
In sendmap20 program you can select all the maps and the coustom type file and upload them to the gps.
Please note that selecting all the maps need about 250Mbyte of GPS memory. Only the new GPS with SD card support this amount of memory. for small memory GPS device select in send map20 only the specific files for your area.
How to select files from israel_topo directory
to download to the GPS
When we select files we need to know the AOI (Area of interset) pick up the correct files , and download them using sendmap20.exe.
If you have the new GPSMAP serias GPS device , with large SD card, just download all the files.
In israel_topo directory , the img files name are start with number type : 000XX0YY
where :
XX is numbers from 1 to 43
YY is number from 01 to 50
Example (see map bellow):
file 00001022.img is the upper left file.
upper row is from 00001022 ... 00001050.img
Last row is from 00043001.img .... 00043025.img

Close Garmin Base map:
GPSmap 60/76 Series Etrex and Similar Units
The Garmin units come in very poor base map of all over the worlds. In Israel area the base map has wrong contours lines. The base map must be close in order not disturb the Israel topo lines.
To close the GPS Base map for Israel perform the following simple steps:
1) From the Map display hit the MENU key, then select "Setup Map" - see Figure 1.
2) Hit the ROCKER key left or right to select the "Information" tab - see Figure 2.
Switch to " Hide Base Map"
How to select large numbers of maps to download
Sendmap20 program support self generated EXE file that can download automaticly pre-selcted files.
Use the following command (from command line) to creating self uploading with list of maps in external file
sendmap20 -y israel_topo_all -f Topo_ALL_files.txt
where:
Israel_tpop_all - name of the generated EXE file
Topo_ALL_files.txt - list of all the files to include in the EXE program
Example:
Copy this files to israel_topo directory ,duble click on the bat file.
Make sure that sendmap20 is in the search path or in this directory.
You can edit the Topo_ALL_files.txt to generated small maps areas.
Please note that two files must be exist in any map set:
99999999.img - Israel road map
99999998.typ - TYPE file
Another method is to use img 2 gps program for selecting the maps for download, load the israel_topo directory, but remember to dis-select the preview map israel_topo.img.
